Welcome to the inaugural post of our blog, a virtual “Hello World” from the snowy peaks of our family’s imagination. We are excited to embark on a journey, not just about skiing, but about the myriad experiences that come bundled with it. It’s about the family dynamics, the challenges, the triumphs, and the sheer joy of navigating the slopes – a narrative that we are thrilled to share with you and your family, no matter the size or skiing expertise you carry with you.

Imagine this blog as a collection of stories and experiences, aimed to create a framework of teaching early walkers how to ski; a place where every entry is a new ascent towards a thrilling descent of insights and anecdotes.

Personally, I do a lot of thinking while riding on chairlifts, and very little while skiing.  This first chair of a blog post has all the makings of when we think too much: anxiety, excitement, a sense of the unknown and undiscovered.

We start with the magic of first experiences. Surprisingly enough, I can’t recall my literal first chairlift ride, but the metaphorical ‘first chair’ is vivid in my memory. It’s about the first time I faced the challenge of skiing, a few years back as a young kid at Wildcat Mountain in New Hampshire. I remember the struggle of dragging heavy skis uphill, each step a mini-battle against gravity, and the confusion of strapping them on for the first time. But then came the descent – a fleeting moment of exhilarating freedom and the rush of cold air, as I whizzed down with a newfound sense of speed and liberation.

This blog isn’t just about the act of skiing; it’s about the entire journey – the struggles and the victories. It’s about the resilience to climb and the joy of descending, a metaphor for life itself. We’re here to take you on this adventure, sharing stories, creating memories, and building a community around the love for skiing.

We’ll be talking a lot about teaching my daughters, Victoria and Charlotte, to ski. After all, this is the inspiration for this blog.  Each experience was unique, filled with challenges and immense rewards. Victoria’s skiing journey began a little after her second birthday. Charlotte started even younger, at 18 months. These experiences weren’t just about teaching them to ski; they were lessons in patience, something I continually strive to master in all aspects of my life.

Skiing, like any adventure, demands the right gear, at the right time.  We’ll dive deep into the world of ski equipment – from the right clothing to the perfect pair of skis. It’s a journey in itself, but we’re here to guide you through it, ensuring comfort and safety for your little ones.

At the heart of our skiing journey is the bond it creates within our family. Skiing ties us together, physically, mentally, and perhaps even spiritually. It’s a shared experience that brings us closer, forging lasting memories and friendships. We’ll share stories of our ski trips, along with other traditions that have strengthened our family bond through this sport.

So, whether you’re a seasoned skier, a beginner, or somewhere in between, we’re excited to have you here. Crawl, Walk, Ski is for those with a passion for winter sports, for parents who dream of their kids becoming confident enthusiasts on the slopes. We’ll explore various aspects of this journey, sharing our Crawl, Walk, Ski framework, and building a community that nurtures the next generation of skiers and leaders.

Get ready for an adventure that’s not just about skiing, but about growing, learning, and enjoying life – one snowy slope at a time, together.

Welcome!
